Xanga is a great place, and I always appreciate what the team members are up to. And I'd blog more often, but a lot of the tools that I want have never been implemented. Since the Team seems to be content on not updating services and slowly erroding in to the past, here is my wish list...
- I know Asia is your primary market at this point, especially Hong Kong. But quit ignoring everyone state side.
- An app for phones. You gave Hong Kong users mobile Xanga access, but you don't support XMLRCP or an open API. Every other major blog service has this ability. Do you enjoy being second rate? By mobile, I can update about 20 other blogging services, but not Xanga. God forbid you make it easy for people to use your service.
- The ability to save drafts. If I'm working on future posts, I have to do it in a text editor, G-mail, etc... This is unnecessary. To keep overhead down, give drafts a 30 day lifespan that is renewed upon modification.
- The ability to flag posts for future publication. I have tons of posts written up, and it would be lovely to have an automated way to publish them and the photos that go along with them.
- Either let Pulse pull in Twitter or let it push to Twitter. We want integration, not segregation.
- The ability to have my own domain
- With #6, make it flexible like Wordpress, or just give up now
- More supported HTML and Javascript code - I want my profile picture and header to change, but I can't connect that to code. Provide code, allow code, or just ban it all together. But don't do it hemipygus.
- With #8, some of us would like to use Google Analytics. Do you not trust Google? You have heard of Google, right?

You're so industrious, Seth!
I just privatize everything I have as "drafts".
I can see a few things on there that I like. I am glad you mentioned the flexibility of wordpress.
good ideas. though #5 seems frivolous.
your #4 you can post stuff before you post it. It is called future posting. You just make the timestamp when you want it to post.
I could live without the intergation.
I personally think the integration idea is nice. Especially since I use twitter 90 times more than I use Xanga at this point because it has an actual app for my Blackberry.....great ideas....
In other words: Overhaul it! The more you improve it the more likely you are to see new users and the less likely old users are to leave.
Hear, hear for the mobile features. I love being able to check Facebook on my phone. Why not Xanga?
i like everything... excep twitter. never been a fan.... but apart from that, awesome!
Xanga used to be set apart from the others because it was a blog service first and a social network second. Now, it has half-broken copycat features of social networks and less and less blog support. In trying to be everything to everyone, they are suceeding only in being nothing to no one.
Twitter or not just make mobile pulse updates work and be easy to do for once. But I like the twitter idea too.
#6 most definitely...I suggested this a whiles back.
#5 would be cool too.
#3 - As someone stated, just set drafts as Private.
#4 - I thought we already have this function. The bottom of every entry you can set the time to post the entry. Isn't that what you're referring to?
Half these things...if they bothered me, I would just leave to wordpress.
No offense, but what's going on here with you that you stay here for, since you're obviously so dissatisfied?
Go suck a dick, asshole.
goo-- what? google? what's that? I'm going to have to go look that up on infoseek.
i'm SO with having xanga app on phones AND syncing twitter with our pulses. you have no idea how many times i lamented about these 2.
oof; at 60, I'm convinced more and more that Content Rulez, and that searching for killer-apps is a derivative detour. The only one I use is "Sad-sack Alert, which ID's and auto-blocks Hydra-headed no-talents on sight ^^. -posted via the corner-store cash-register, thence to my cell-phone, uplinked to the Hubble on spare house-keeping bandwidth, down-relayed as sequentially-linked twitter-twats, and thence to your xanga. Am I having fun?
You really know how to...not...hold my attention.
Seriously, Seth. You're working with a goldfish here, can't you at least hide some entertainment in the middle?
And am I too good to talk to, huh? I want to visit San Francisco, and you should want to visit Oregon. Let's work that out.
Hello Seth,
You made your site simple yet elegant. The videos are a nice touch. I see that you have a wide variety of interests and observations here!
I like to write articles about Jehovah God on my site to help people to really get to know Him and His plans for us, especially in these troubled times. "The land is swollen with murder. The city is bloated with injustice. They all say, 'God has forsaken the country. He doesn't see anything we do.' Well, I do see, and I'm not feeling sorry for any of them. They're going to pay for what they've done." (Ezekiel 9:9-10) (The Message)
Man, did this entry get some retarded comments, dude.Â
ANYWAY WE NEEDS TO DRINK, YO
hahahaha. even though you hate it, i hope you don't ever leave xanga! Oh yeah, and I agree with the first commenter... I just save stuff I'm not ready to publish as "private"... works like a charm
Are some of these people for real? As always, loved the post. SMART and ENTERTAINING. What a fucking miracle.
The mobile app doesn't allow me to read everything I have access to normally. Friends lock or whatever doesn't allow me to view their blogs from the app. Highly annoying.
Your propositions will help without any doubt.
