I love what people will do. If you create the most basic object, such as a yoyo, or set a simple goal, such as balance this ball, someone out there will dedicate his time to it, and often his life to it. And in that time he won’t simply master the goal, but rather he will push it to a realm of skill and precision that no one ever would have foreseen.
Though the talents don’t serve many other purposes, they are a beautiful illustration of what our bodies are capable. Feats of strength, speed, skill, and unlocked potential that at times are almost providence. Your body is the greatest instrument you’ll ever own. And on a side note, I really want the “u” to come before the “r” in instrument.
People will…

People truly are capable of doing many amazing things. This reminds me of a fairly old television show that has stopped running for a while: Ripley’s Believe It or Not. I’m always amazed by the stuff I see on that show. Just when you think you’ve seen it all, there’s always something new and mind-blowing that people do/accomplish. Pretty frickin’ cool.
@Southeast_Beauty - Even when the skill is completely pointless, people still find a way to make it incredible. My favorite scene is in the video of the skiers, at about 2:57 seconds a guy is doing a jump and in the background you can see he is above the cloud line. Simply a gorgeous shot.
They have acts similar to the gymnastics in Circque du Soleil, which I am going to see next month. Very few of their performers are American, probably because our philosophy is the pursuit of happiness overall rather than the pursuit of perfection in a certain area. I don’t know which concept is better. Those girls and the skiers are definitely an awe-inspiring and thought-provoking example of what humans can do with dedication. Although sometimes, I have to admit, I wonder if I am really the same species as those people.
Bubbles + children = joy
@lanney - “American, probably because our philosophy is the pursuit of happiness overall rather than the pursuit of perfection in a certain area.” That is going in the file of quotes to remember. I hadn’t thought if it in those terms before. And I’m with you on the “Am the same species?”
